This was an entry that I posted on my Tumblr account.

I Giorni (The Days) by Ludovico Einaudi

The inspiration behind the piece “I Giorni” was a 12th-century folk song from Mali about a hippopotamus who was adored by the local people of a nearby village but killed by a hunter. Einaudi wrote that “The song is sung as a lament for the death of a king or a great person or for the loss of a loved one.”

Whenever I hear this piece, I always think about life. I believe life in general is unfair, but it doesn’t mean that it is not beautiful. The resilience that we posses is utterly amazing. This piece is overwhelming that it gives me mixed emotions about loss, love, regret, and happiness. It made me realise that my physical being is slowly dying. From the moment I was born, life is all about finding ways to divert myself and my attention from inevitable death. I know that I am all slowly marching towards the grave. The only thing I can do is to make sure that I live the life I fully wanted.
